Intermediate Accountant

We're looking for a talented, career-focused accounting graduate looking for the perfect growth opportunity as a finance professional in a company of 40 employees, growing at a rate of 400% annually. The skills needed for success include the understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) regulations, an awareness of revenue recognition issues for software companies, an awareness of cross-border labor and benefits requirements and a positive, energetic attitude as we grow to support our expanding client base across North America.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable: manage AP payment cycles, oversee monthly billing cycle, monitor AR collection activities
  • Treasury: monitor cashflow, initiate foreign currency transactions, manage short term investments
  • Month End/Year End: perform month-end/year-end closing for the Company and related companies and prepare year-end schedules and leadsheets for external auditors
  • Human Resources: calculate sales commissions, administer payroll, review ROEs, T4's, T4A's, administer employee benefits, WCB reporting and handling employee changes
  • Taxation: preparation of sales and use tax returns and payroll withholding tax returns for numerous jurisdictions as well as monitoring tax exposure from US operations
  • Reporting: monthly cashflow reports, annual budget, monthly progress against budget, forecast income, and cost analytics
  • Other: projects from time-to-time

About you

You are a recent graduate of a financial management program who can't wait to jump into a position at a company experiencing enormous growth with endless opportunity. You find finance and accounting very exciting, and you seek an organization who strongly believes in professional development within a fun working environment while supporting you on your path to becoming a Finance Officer.

You're organized, have exceptional written and oral communication skills and possess strong computer skills including MS Office applications, payroll and accounting modules.
